Welcome! I am Carolyn Young, an Ashtanga Yoga student, practitioner, yoga teacher and an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach.

I currently live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with my husband and our two sons.

I tried my first yoga class in 2005 while pregnant with my second son. From that first class I thought to myself "Why haven't I tried this before?" I have been practicing yoga for 12 years, and I have practiced several different styles: Hatha, Iyengar, Yin, Vinyasa Flow and Ashtanga. I have a daily Ashtanga practice for the past 7 years, and have recently started meditating and adding Pranayama to my practice. Ashtanga yoga requires strength, flexibility, it keeps the body healthy, the mind clear, but most of all, it teaches the practitioner to be strong and to never give up.

In June of 2010, I completed a 200-hour teacher training at The Yoga Institute in Houston, Texas.  In July of 2015, I studied at the well known Miami Life Center, in Miami Beach, Florida with master teachers  Kino MacGregor and Tim Feldmann, for a second  200-hour teacher training certification. I will continue to visit Miami Life Center to study with my teachers. In June 2016, I practiced with Sharath during his USA Tour in Miami. I hope to visit KPJAYI in Mysore, India in the near future to learn from Ashtanga Yoga Master Sharath Jois. I have been a member of Yoga Alliance since 2010, the organization that regulates yoga worldwide.

I also completed the "Yoga Anatomy" course by Leslie Kaminoff, where I learnt about the breath, body alignment and movements of the spine. I learnt most importantly how to view the body as a whole, how to integrate the breath, use proper alignment and work with the strength and flexibility of the body to experience each pose fully.

Yoga is a personal practice, it's a way to discover myself, where I am constantly learning and observing. It’s not about teaching my body a new pose, but about teaching my mind that with practice, patience, determination, dedication and faith, I can overcome obstacles and discover my Inner Self.

I love sharing what I know about yoga with others. I teach traditional Ashtanga Yoga, as I learnt from Kino, Tim and the other amazing teachers at Miami Life Center. I encourage practitioners to focus on the journey and not the shape they can put their body into, and that all lessons learnt on your mat can be applied to your daily life.

I have always been interested in nutrition and healthy eating from a young age. This year I enrolled in the Institute of Integrative Nutrition to become an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. My goal is to help others achieve a healthy lifestyle through the practice of yoga and healthy eating.

I encourage you to practice yoga and find ways to achieve overall health, through a healthy diet and life style.

Practice, Dedication and Faith!
